No Entity Mode in Infinite Backrooms

Use peaceful exploration to learn biomes and seeds without Bacteria pressure.

No Entity Mode

Steam materials for Infinite Backrooms explicitly call out No Entity Mode: explore the Backrooms peacefully when you want liminal tourism instead of a hunt. This guide explains when to enable it, how to structure calm sessions, and how to switch back to Bacteria without wasting the skills you practiced.

No Entity Mode is not a “cheat ending.” It is a learning and creativity lane inside a truly infinite procedural world. Early Access is planned around August 14, 2026; until then the demo remains the best place to build habits that still matter when more entities arrive.

What No Entity Mode is for

Use it when your session goal is:

  • Learning transitions across Office Rooms, Supermarket, Pool Rooms, Parking Lot, and No-Walls Room
  • Capturing clean seed notes without panic typing
  • Teaching a friend the Controls and audio mix
  • Scouting landmarks before a Bacteria night
  • Recording calm footage or screenshots for a club wiki

Do not use it if your group advertised a horror lobby. Announce the mode in the lobby title or first voice line — see Co-op Multiplayer and Proximity VOIP.

How it changes the session loop

With Bacteria off, the infinite world still generates forever. What disappears is the constant threat tax on attention. That free attention should go into better notes, not endless mindless sprinting.

  1. Install and launch via How to Play the Demo.
  2. Enable No Entity Mode in the available settings/options for your build.
  3. Write the seed immediately in the Seed Notepad using the Seed System fields.
  4. Walk two biome transitions with intentional stops — use the Environments Hub vocabulary.
  5. Capture three landmarks that a friend could find later.
  6. End on a timer even if the halls invite “one more corridor.”

Co-op etiquette in peaceful mode

Public lobbies that mix horror-seekers and tourists create rage. Hosts should state “No Entity / tourism” before anyone loads in. Proximity VOIP still applies — distance means silence — so regroup rules remain useful even without Bacteria.

If someone demands horror mid-session, either vote to relaunch with Bacteria or split into a second lobby. Do not gaslight the group by toggling modes silently.

Common mistakes

  • Calling No Entity Mode “the real game” and never testing Bacteria before Early Access
  • Taking zero seed notes because “nothing is chasing us”
  • Using peaceful mode to invent Exit myths without route discipline
  • Forgetting to tell Steam friends which mode a shared seed was captured under

Practice drills

Biome literacy (20 minutes): name each transition out loud as it happens.

Landmark quality (15 minutes): rewrite vague notes (“weird room”) into specific ones (“Pool Rooms U-bend with cracked pillar”).

Handoff (15 minutes): give a friend only your seed card and see if they can reach your landmark without voice — then improve the card.

After Early Access ships

Developers plan more entities during Early Access. No Entity Mode (or equivalent peaceful options) will likely remain valuable for creators and newcomers. Re-check Steam news via the Demo Changelog and Early Access Roadmap when new creatures arrive so your “peaceful” assumptions stay accurate.

Peaceful halls are still infinite. Treat No Entity Mode as a classroom with fluorescent lighting — graduate to Bacteria when the lesson sticks.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Infinite Backrooms.

Is No Entity Mode available in the Infinite Backrooms demo?

Steam feature copy lists No Entity Mode for peaceful exploration. Confirm the toggle in your current demo build’s options after launch.

Should beginners start in No Entity Mode?

Yes if audio anxiety or disorientation blocks learning. Switch Bacteria on once movement and seed notes feel natural.

Can co-op lobbies use No Entity Mode?

Yes, but announce it clearly. Mixing silent tourists with horror seekers without a stated mode creates avoidable conflict.
